New CM Secretariat Inaugurated in Dibrugarh to Boost Regional Development

In a major step towards decentralizing governance, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the new Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh. The facility is set to enhance administrative accessibility for the people of Upper Assam and promote regional development.

During the event, Chief Minister Sarma stated, “This Secretariat will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between state administration and the people of Upper Assam, enabling faster decision-making at the district level.” He also announced that he would personally attend the Secretariat for four days every month to ensure effective governance and public service delivery.

Union Minister Sonowal hailed the new Secretariat as a hallmark of administrative efficiency and regional empowerment. He emphasized that this move aligns with the BJP-led government’s commitment to decentralizing democratic power and advancing development across the nine districts in Upper Assam.

The event also highlighted Dibrugarh’s strategic importance in regional development. Sonowal praised ongoing efforts to revive inland waterways and boost economic activities in the region, positioning Dibrugarh as a key commercial hub. The inauguration was followed by the dedication of a road in memory of Jayanta Dutta, former General Secretary of the BJP, in the presence of senior party leaders.
