Praveen Kumar has achieved remarkable success at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, winning the gold medal in the Men’s High Jump T64 event. He secured victory with a personal best jump of 2.08 meters, which also set a new Asian record.
Kumar’s performance was notable as he cleared several heights on his first attempt, demonstrating impressive consistency throughout the competition. The 21-year-old from Noida, who was born with a short leg, produced a season best jump of 2.08m in the six-jumper field to finish on top of the podium.
USA’s Derek Loccident claimed the silver and Uzbekistan’s Temurbek Giyazov wins bronze.
His gold medal win adds to his accolades, following a silver medal in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
This victory is part of India’s strong showing at the Paris Games, where the country is aiming to reach a total of 30 medals
