ADG Eastern Command BSF Visits India-Bangladesh International Border in Malda Sector

Additional Director General (ADG) of the Eastern Command, BSF, Ravi Gandhi, visited the Malda sector, a key area along the India-Bangladesh border.

On September 8 and 9, 2024, Gandhi, accompanied by IG South Bengal Frontier, Maninder Partap Singh Pawar, IPS, Sector DIG Tarun Kumar Gautam, and officers of the 115th Battalion, undertook a strategic inspection. No p Gandhi conducted important inspections of Border Outposts (BOP) at Boyraghat, Pirojpur, and Chandnichak. During these visits, he, along with the DIG of Sector Headquarters Malda, reviewed the operational readiness of the border forces and interacted with jawans on duty.

On the second day, Shri Gandhi inspected BOP Khutadha and Singhana, manned by the 88th Battalion of Sector Malda, and BOP Mansamata of the 12th Battalion. He addressed the troops during a Sainik Sammelan, encouraging them to carry out their duties with integrity and vigilance. He also observed a demonstration of non-lethal weapon techniques by the 12th Battalion at Narayanpur, Malda, and praised the jawans for their skill and preparedness.

Additionally, Gandhi held a meeting with BSF officers to assess the current situation in Bangladesh and discussed strategies to combat illegal infiltration and smuggling. The ADG emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance and instructed the officers to stay alert and prepared for any emerging threats.

The Public Relations Officer of the South Bengal Frontier stated that the ADG’s visit underscores the BSF’s unwavering commitment to securing the India-Bangladesh border, especially in critical areas like Malda and Farakka. These proactive inspections bolster the force’s operational readiness and reinforce the nation’s border defense against potential threats.
