In separate incidents, the soldiers of 149th Battalion, 68th Battalion and 102nd Battalion under South Bengal Frontier BSF arrested a smuggler with 10 kg of ganja, phensedyl bottles and one kg of narcotic powder.
The incident took place on 10 September 2024 at around 2300 pm in the area of 149th Battalion, Sector Berhampur. The intelligence department of BSF received information that the smugglers have hidden a large consignment of narcotic drugs in a house in the border area. The smugglers are trying to cross this consignment from India to Bangladesh. As soon as the information was received, the Ranitala police station in-charge was also informed about it. BSF and police personnel cordoned off the area and conducted a joint search operation. During the search, a smuggler who smuggles narcotic powder was also arrested from a house with 01 packet of brownish coloured powder.
On the other hand, in other incidents, acting on the information of the intelligence department of BSF, the jawans of Border Outpost-Padampur, 68th Battalion seized 05 kg ganja, 122 bottles of Phensidyl and the jawans of Border Outpost Dobila, 102nd Battalion seized 05 kg ganja and 50 bottles of Phensidyl.
The seized material has been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
The spokesperson of BSF, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the vigilance of the soldiers and said that the BSF soldiers are fully determined and committed to stop cross-border crimes and smuggling and said that the soldiers do not take long to foil any kind of nefarious act.
