ASSAM RIFLES UNDERTAKES EXTENSIVE CLEANLINESS DRIVES AS PART OF “SWACCHTA HI SEVA” CAMPAIGN

Assam Rifles conducted multiple cleanliness drives on 17 September 2024, as part of the nationwide “Swacchta Hi Seva” campaign. The events were organized on a massive scale at various locations at Keithalmanbi, Mantripukhri, Sangaithel, Longa Koirang (Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts) and also at Thoubal, Lilong, Chandrakhong, Singjamei, Canchipur, Chingmeirong (Imphal East, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts)

The drives aimed to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability, aligning with the Swacch Bharat Mission. Troops actively participated in cleaning the surroundings, removing waste, and raising awareness about the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment. A total of 570 troops took the Swacchta Pledge, underscoring their commitment to the nationwide movement for cleanliness.

On the same day at Poi Village, Ukhrul District, Assam Rifles undertook a cleanliness drive as part of the annual ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, from 15 September to 02 October to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The campaign, initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, emphasizes creating a clean environment through innovative initiatives, community engagement, and reinforcing the principle of ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’. The village authorities appreciated the initiative and expressed interest in similar future drives.
