In a remarkable display of synergy, the Indian Armed Forces, supported by the MoD successfully conducted a critical medical evacuation of Havildar Suresh R from United Nations Disengagement Observer Force UNDOF Golan Heights.
The Critical Care Air Evacuation Medical Team was led by Lieutenant Colonel Anuj Singh along with two trained paramedics, from Base Hospital, Delhi Cantonment.
Havildar Suresh R, 33-year-old male, the injured soldier, was shifted to CZ (Israel side) to Level 1 Hospital on 20th September 24. He was not oriented to time/place/person and appeared to be deranged. His medical history involved 30 days of admission at Rambam Hospital, Haifa, Israel, with effect from 22 August until 20 September. His diagnosis involved Head Injury, Unspecified trauma, Subarachnoid Haemorrhage, Diffuse Axonal Injury and Hemiparesis left.
On 20 September 2024, the individual suffered grievous injuries in the line of duty and was transferred to a UN hospital in Israel. However, as his situation required further treatment, it was decided to evacuate him to India. A team of Army Medical Corps ,AMC in close collaboration with IAF, IDS & DMA, in a highly coordinated mission, not only ensured that the injured soldier was evacuated amidst an extremely uncertain situation, but also provided state of the art critical care support en- route to the patient.
Currently, his vitals are stable and is maintaining >98% saturation at room air, GCS 10/15, while his body movements are swifter and smoother.
The air ambulance took off from Tel Aviv with the patient at 01.20 AM (IST) and reached Jamnagar at 10 AM (IST). He was further airlifted to Palam, New Delhi and has reached today, 26 September 2024 at about 2 PM. He was later transferred to Army Hospital R&R, New Delhi by 3 PM, through an Ambulance.
The stellar efforts of Indian Armed Forces in general and Medical Services in particular reflects the highest ethos of Armed Forces to save precious human lives even in most difficult conditions.
This mission exemplifying the highest values of the Armed Forces, highlights the unwavering commitment to saving lives, even in the most challenging circumstances.
