Assam Rifles organized a Security Meeting at the Sorde Company Operating Base, Kamjong district, Manipur, on 26 September 2024.
The meeting aimed to discuss the current security situation and address concerns from local residents regarding the safety of their villages.
The event began with a welcome address by the senior officials of Assam Rifles, who briefed the village authorities on the prevailing security scenario in the region. This was followed by an interactive session, where village heads shared their concerns about the socio-political climate and its impact on regional security. The security forces actively addressed these concerns and reassured the villagers that their safety is a priority, with the security forces maintaining a vigilant presence in the area.
A total of 18 representatives from 12 village councils under the Sorde Company Operating Base’s area of responsibility participated in the meeting.
The village authorities expressed their deep gratitude to Assam Rifles for organizing this significant event and pledged their unwavering support to the security forces in future initiatives.

Assam Rifles conducted a Wreath Laying Ceremony at Modi, Chandel district in honour of Rifleman (GD) Churamani Singha.
Wreath laying ceremony was conducted to honour Rifleman Churamani Singha’s indomitable spirit and selfless sacrifice who laid down his life in the service of the nation.
On 26 September 1990 Rfn Churamani Singha was part of patrol party which was tasked to sanitise area between Phaibung Khullen and Lekhmai post in Manipur. The party came under heavy fire by group of insurgents and Rifleman Churamani Singha exhibited fearlessness and overt courage and opened heavy fire on the enemy. During the firefight he suffered a gunshot wound and made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
