HUMANITARIAN WORK BY ASSAM RIFLES IN NORTH EAST

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY FOR BRAVEHEART AT MANTRIPUKHRI

In a solemn yet deeply inspiring ceremony, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), honored the valiant sacrifices of Rifleman Late Udai Bahadur Chhetri and Rifleman Late Rudra Bahadur Chhetri of 4 Assam Rifles. These brave soldiers gave their all for the nation, embodying the spirit of service and sacrifice that runs deep within Assam Rifles.

On 01 October 1958, Rifleman Udai Bahadur Chhetri was part of a convoy protection party patrolling the Imphal road in Manipur. When insurgents laid an ambush, he fought bravely, sustaining gunshot wounds in the firefight. His ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty still resonates with the courage that Assam Rifles stands for. Forty years later, on 01 October 1998, Rifleman Rudra Bahadur Chhetri, during an operation near Tuensang, Nagaland, faced a similar situation. Amidst heavy enemy fire, his commitment to duty saw him fight till his last breath, securing the lives of his comrades and the safety of the nation.

These stories of valour were recounted with heartfelt reverence at the War Memorial, where the Assam Rifles family gathered to pay homage. The ceremony, marked by the laying of wreaths, was a reflection of the enduring respect for those who chose to protect others, no matter the cost.

The ceremony commenced with a dignified wreath-laying, followed by a motivational address that narrated the heroic journeys of these soldiers. Their sacrifices were not just memories but lessons in courage, dedication, and the ultimate love for the country. The event culminated with two officers, five Junior Commissioned Officers, and 48 Other Ranks standing tall, according a Guard of Honour to these brave souls.

The names of Rifleman Udai Bahadur Chhetri and Rifleman Rudra Bahadur Chhetri are etched deeper into the legacy of Assam Rifles, their spirits forever a guiding light for all ranks. In their stories, the resolve to serve, protect, and sacrifice continues to inspire future generations.

ASSAM RIFLES INAUGURATES LITERARY MEET AT ST. JOSEPH’S SCHOOL, CHANDEL DISTRICT AND DISTRIBUTES SPORTS EQUIPMENT

Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR(S), brought the world of words to life on 1st October 2024, as they proudly inaugurated the annual Literary Meet at St. Joseph’s School in Chandel District.

With poetry recitals that echoed heartfelt emotions, debates that sparked lively discussions, and captivating storytelling sessions, the Literary Meet aimed to ignite a passion for literature among young minds. The event transformed the school into a vibrant space where ideas flowed and every student felt the joy of self-expression.

In line with their commitment to holistic education, Assam Rifles also distributed games and sports equipment to the school, ensuring that the students’ development extended beyond the classroom to the playground. After all, a healthy mind thrives in a healthy body.

The event drew a large crowd, with over 300 enthusiastic students, dedicated school staff, and local dignitaries joining hands to emphasize the importance of community in shaping young futures. The day was a testament to the belief that learning is not just about textbooks but also about creativity, engagement, and community spirit.

This Literary Meet was yet another example of Assam Rifles’ ongoing mission to nurture the next generation through education, both intellectually and physically.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS SWACCHTA DRIVE

In a continued effort to foster community well-being and environmental consciousness, Assam Rifles, organized a Swachhta Drive in collaboration with local villagers in Chandel & Thoubal district. The event, held on 30th September was aligned with the nationwide Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aiming to raise awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and the importance of a healthier lifestyle in rural communities.

Assam Rifles personnel and villagers from New Samtal, Old Samtal, Phoelin, Kovang, Aibol Joupi, Sehlon Villages in Chandel District, and Phundrei Village in Thoubal District came together to clean public spaces, roads, and community areas.

Assam Rifles also conducted an awareness rally and a lecture on sanitation and hygiene on the occasion.

The informative sessions covered practical tips for daily routines and ways to enhance sanitation in their homes and communities.

Children were also engaged through a drawing competition centered on the themes of cleanliness and environmental protection. Their creativity highlighted a promising future where younger generations understand the importance of a clean and sustainable environment.
To conclude the day’s activities, Assam Rifles and villagers took part in a tree plantation drive, symbolizing the lasting impact of their efforts towards a greener, healthier future.

Villagers expressed their gratitude for Assam Rifles’ continuous commitment to community welfare and development. This Swachhta Drive reflects Assam Rifles’ broader mission of engaging with local communities and promoting a shared vision for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
