Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony in honour of Late Rfn Bhuwa Thapa, SC (P), Rfn Neraman Chandra Koch, SC (P) and Budhiman Tamang who made the ultimate sacrifice in line of duty in Mizoram.
On 05 November 1968, a raid on MNF insurgent camp was carried out. During the operation MNF insurgents opened heavy fire on the team. During the intense exchange of firefight Late Rfn Bhuwa Thapa, SC (P), Rfn Neraman Chandra Koch, SC (P) and Rfn Budhiman Tamang were injured and achieved martyrdom. The brave act of Late Rin Bhuwa Thapa, SC (P), Rfn Neraman Chandra Koch, SC (P) and Budhiman Tamang led the insurgents to abandon their camp and killed 3 insurgents in the operation.
The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying. Officials of Assam Rifles narrated the acts of valour of the braveheart. Over 100 Assam Rifles personnel paid tribute by laying wreath & honouring the braveheart with Guard of Honour.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANIZES MEDICAL CAMP AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH SESSION IN CHANDEL DISTRICT
Assam Rifles conducted a dual outreach initiative in Chandel district, Manipur, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to community welfare in remote border regions. On November 5, 2024, a medical camp was organized at Molcham Village, followed by an informative lecture on government schemes at Kovang Village on November 6, 2024.
The medical camp at Molcham Village aimed to enhance healthcare access for the local community. During the camp, medical personnel treated 97 residents, including 23 men, 47 women, and 27 children. The services provided included general consultations, health check-ups, and treatments for common ailments. Preventive care focused on maternal and child health, hygiene, and nutrition awareness was also emphasized. Local residents expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the critical need for accessible healthcare in these remote areas.
Simultaneously, an interactive lecture held at Kovang Village aimed to empower locals with information about various government schemes. Attended by 36 villagers, particularly youths, the session provided valuable insights into programs related to health, agriculture, education, and entrepreneurship. Topics discussed included the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for healthcare access, the Swachh Bharat Mission for sanitation improvements, and skill development programs designed to support young entrepreneurs in establishing small businesses. The lecture concluded with participants feeling more informed and prepared to access these schemes, contributing to their socio-economic upliftment.
These initiatives underscore the Assam Rifles’ dedication to community engagement and its vital role as a bridge between remote communities and essential services. By addressing immediate healthcare needs and providing critical information on government programs, the Assam Rifles continues to foster a spirit of cooperation and support among the people of Chandel district.
