Here are five notable temples:

Kanchakanti Kali Mandir:

The Kachakanti Mandir, located in the Cachar district, is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to the revered Dimasa Kachari Mother Goddess, Kachakanti. Founded by the Kachari Kings, it is one of the region’s oldest temples. Kachakanti Devi is revered as the embodiment of two powerful Hindu deities, Maa Durga and Maa Kali.

Hailakandi Adi Kalibari:

Located in Hailakandi, the Adi Kalibari Temple boasts a rich history spanning over 300 years, having been established by Induprava Devi, spouse of King Krishanu Chandra, and functions as a vital place of worship for local adherents, hosting various annual festivals.

Siddheswar Temple:

The Siddheswar temple, or Kapilashram Ashram, situated in Panchgram, Hailakandi district, Assam, holds significant mythological importance as one of Barak Valley’s oldest temples. It consistently draws visitors nationwide, especially during the Baruni Mela, a fortnight-long event that convenes thousands of devotees. A sacred dip in the Barak river marks the Baruni day celebrations. Targeted development by Assam’s tourism department could establish this site as a notable tourist attraction.

Bhuvan Hill:

Situated in Assam’s Barak Valley, Bhuvan Hill is a prominent pilgrimage destination, particularly during Maha Shivratri, featuring a revered Shiva temple at its summit that draws thousands of devotees who undertake a seven-kilometer trek. Located near the tri-junction of Assam, Mizoram, and Manipur, this site hosts an annual gathering of worshippers. While the trek is demanding, it offers profound spiritual fulfillment, with many pilgrims observing fasts and participating in temple rituals.

Badsha Bari:

Badsha Bari, located in Katlicharra, Hailakandi district, holds considerable tourism potential in Assam.
