ADG, Eastern Command BSF, Conducts Three-Day Visit to Indo-Bangladesh Border in Murshidabad and Nadia districts to review operational preparedness

Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command, Kolkata, conducted a three-day visit of the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Murshidabad and Nadia districts of West Bengal from 23rd to 25th November 2024. The purpose of the visit was to review the operational preparedness of the BSF and focus on enhancing security along this strategically sensitive border.

Accompanied by Maninder pratap Singh Pawar, Inspector General (IG) of the South Bengal Frontier, Shri Gandhi began his tour by inspecting the newly constructed Rajnagar Forward Patrol Base. Starting with the Charmurashi BOP he visited key border outposts and assessed Ops preparedness and interacted with the deployed troops. Shri Gandhi provided guidelines for bolstering border surveillance and security. He subsequently visited the Charkutibari and Harudanga BOPs, where he addressed a Sainik Sammelan and commended Bordeman dedication and hard work. At the Jalangi BOP, Gandhi reviewed night-time border operations and interacted with BSF personnel on night duty to understand the challenges they face during duty hours.

Next day, Gandhi inaugurated the newly constructed Jawan Barrack at the Madhubana BOP. He also met with personnel from the 47th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), presenting sweets as a gesture of goodwill. Later, in the Nadia district, he visited the Brahmanagar and Kadipur BOPs to gain deeper insights into border security operations. At the Kadipur BOP, he praised the innovative Arogya Marg Project, a collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH. This initiative promotes sustainable agricultural practices such as beekeeping, aquaculture, and mushroom cultivation, creating additional employment opportunities for the local community. Shri Gandhi interacted with project participants and lauded the border community’s contributions to strengthening border security. He also appreciated units initiative in improving Border security Force and Border community understanding & relationship which is bound to positively impact security and development.

Gandhi also inspected the Land Customs Station (LCS) at Gede, evaluating the efficiency of cross-border trade and security operations.

During his visit, Ravi Gandhi emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of operational readiness and vigilance to address emerging challenges in border security. He expressed appreciation for the dedication and professionalism displayed by BSF personnel deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
