In a steadfast demonstration of its commitment to serving the people, Assam Rifles organized a series of Mega Medical Camps in the challenging terrains of Kamjong Town, Chassad Village and Maokot Village of Kamjong district, Manipur, as part of its Civic Action Programme. Conducted between 07-09 Dec 24, these camps brought critical healthcare services and medicine distribution to remote communities along the sensitive Indo-Myanmar border.
The camps, facilitated by the Assam Rifles units stationed in Kamjong, were conducted in collaboration with civil medical authorities of Kamjong district. Four committed specialist doctors, including experts in dentistry, gynecology, surgery, and general medicine provided personalised consultations, treatment and guidance tailored to the specific health needs of the attendees.
Medicines were provisioned, providing much-needed relief to villagers with limited or no access to quality healthcare. The initiative catered to approximately 710 residents from Kamjong Town, Maokot, Chassad, and nearby villages including Chattrik Khullen, Chahong Khunou, Gampal, Shampui, Ningthi, Pihang, Bungpa Khullen and Skipe.
The overwhelming response from the villagers underscored the urgent need for such initiatives in these under-served areas. Locals expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for addressing their healthcare challenges and igniting hope in these remote and geographically demanding regions.
This initiative provided essential medical aid while highlighting Assam Rifles’ commitment to the local community. Despite challenging conditions, it strengthens trust and fosters development along the Indo-Myanmar border.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS SWACHHATA ABHIYAN
Assam Rifles conducted Swachhata Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) part of Swachhata Pakhwada in collaboration with the local community of Sajik Tampak, Chandel District in Manipur on 09 December 2024.
The drive saw enthusiastic participation from Assam Rifles personnel and the residents of Sajik Tampak. Together, they cleaned public spaces, roads, marketplaces, and other community areas. The event not only emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness but also aimed to spread awareness about hygiene, waste management, and environmental conservation.
The campaign highlighted the ‘l proactive role of Assam Rifles in civic activities beyond their security duties. It reflected their dedication to holistic development in the region, aligning with the goals of the Swachhata Bharat Abhiyan. Such efforts help build trust, encourage community participation, and foster a sense of unity between the military and local communities.
In an effort to empower local youth and provide them with opportunities to serve the nation, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture in Old Samtal village, Chandel District. The event aimed to educate and inspire the local youth about the career opportunities available in the Assam Rifles.
During the session, comprehensive information was shared regarding the recruitment process, including eligibility criteria, educational qualifications, physical fitness requirements, and the various stages of selection. A total of 32 local youth attended the lecture, demonstrating their enthusiasm and interest in exploring a career with the Assam Rifles. The interactive session provided an open platform for participants to ask questions, clear their doubts, and gain a better understanding of the selection process. The event encouraged the youth to prepare diligently and take advantage of the opportunities to contribute to national security and development.
This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by Assam Rifles to engage with the local communities and support the aspirations of the youth in the region.
ASSAM RIFLES DISTRIBUTES SEWING MACHINES
To uplift women by providing them skill enhancement equipments the women’s society of Suangdai village, Churachandpur District were provided with 18 sewing machines.
The Women’s Society and villagers expressed their gratitude and appreciated the gesture of Assam Rifles wholeheartedly for providing them with these items. It was assured to the women and attendees that Assam Rifles is working towards achieving a common goal of peace and development in the area and actions are being undertaken to keep the area peaceful with assistance of local populace.
Through such initiatives Assam Rifles is reaching at grassroots level to bring overall development and growth of Manipur by working in harmony with local populace.
