The troops of the 102nd Battalion under BSF South Bengal Frontier organizes a civic action programme at “Gobardha High School” in Gobardha, District North 24 Parganas, on 23rd January 2025. The event aimed to empower border communities and promote sports among the youth.
The programme was inaugurated by Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General (ADG), BSF Eastern Command, Kolkata, in the presence of Shri Maninder Pratap Singh Pawar, IPS, Inspector General (IG), BSF South Bengal Frontier; Shri Tarni Kumar Tiu, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarter BSF Kolkata; Shri N.K. Pandey, Deputy Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Commandant 102nd Battalion BSF; and teachers from nearby schools, along with officers, Jawans of the 102nd Battalion, civilians, and students. Students from F.P. Schools Gobardha, Dobila, and Kaijuri participated actively in the programme in large numbers.
During the programme, Additional Director General BSF Shri Ravi Gandhi distributed sports items such as volleyballs and footballs, along with educational items like school bags and stationery, to the students of border schools. This initiative aims to foster an interest in education and sports among students in border areas while promoting a healthy lifestyle and a vibrant sports culture. The event was attended with great enthusiasm by school students and their parents, and the cultural programme presented by the students added to the event’s appeal.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gandhi said, “Empowerment of border communities and development of their youth is our priority. Such programmes not only encourage physical and mental development but also strengthen the spirit of patriotism and discipline in border areas.” This step of BSF is a meaningful effort towards the all-round development of the children of border areas.
