The DGAR Men and Women Polo Championship 2025 continued on Day 13 at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal, with high voltage performances as teams showcased their hunger and determination as final day comes closer.
In the Women’s category, Linthoingambi K L secured a 7-6 victory over Chingkheihunba Polo Club, displaying superior tactics and speed highlighting their thirst on field to top the game.
The championship continues to uphold the rich legacy of Manipuri polo, with each match intensifying the competition as teams vie for the prestigious title.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at Sehlon in honour of Rfn/GD Tek Bahadur Gurung who gave supreme sacrifice during the intense counter insurgency operations in Darlong, Aizawl in 2nd February 1967.
Rifleman TB Gurung was involved in providing protection to logistic columns for the base when his team was ambushed and fired upon by insurgents. In the firefight, Rifleman Gurung was shot by the insurgents. wherein he succumbed to injuries on 02 February 1967.

ASSAM RIFLES OBSERVES WORLD WETLANDS DAY IN MANIPUR
On 2nd February 2025, Assam Rifles alongwith the Manipur Innovation Society, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur, and Komlakhong Youth Development Association, organized a series of impactful activities on the occasion of World Wetlands Day 2025. The event was celebrated at Loktak Lake, under the theme “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future,” with a mission to restore and preserve the integrity of wetlands and the environmental ecosystem. Approx 250 locals and students participated in series of events .
The event commenced with a Cleanliness Drive around the Loktak Lake area, where members of the Assam Rifles, students, and volunteers worked together to ensure the beauty and cleanliness of the wetlands. This was followed by a Tree Plantation Drive, involving students and officials, aimed at promoting sustainable environmental practices.
A Painting Competition was conducted for students, where creativity flourished, showcasing their interpretations of wetland conservation. Cash prizes were awarded to the top three winners in two student categories and consolation prizes were given to top 5 students from two categories to encourage participation. T-shirts and caps were distributed to all students and volunteers.
The program also included a rally of students from Moral Guidance School to Loktak Lake, raising slogans to advocate for wetlands conservation. Officials addressed the gathering, emphasizing the critical role of wetlands in sustaining biodiversity and life. Participants also took a joint pledge to work towards preserving wetlands.
The efforts and dedication of Assam Rifles, in fostering environmental awareness were recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation presented by the Manipur Innovation Society.
This celebration not only raised awareness but also engaged the local community, particularly the youth, in meaningful actions towards protecting wetlands and the environment. The event concluded with a group photo session and light refreshments.
