In a prompt and humanitarian response, the Indian Security Forces successfully rescued and provided medical assistance to a 5 year old Naga girl child who sustained a minor injury from a stray bullet amid cross-border firing in Myanmar. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 PM IST near Border Pillar 83, where stray bullets and splinters landed in Indian territory due to ongoing hostilities across the Indo-Myanmar Border between Manipur insurgents, Myanmar Army and Resistance Forces.
The girl, who was playing near her home in Choktong village at the time, sustained a forehead injury. Swift medical attention was provided by the security forces, ensuring her condition remained stable. The incident has sparked concerns among local residents regarding the safety and security of civilians in the region.
In light of the incident, a formal protest has been lodged with the Myanmar Army, urging extreme caution and prior coordination in operations conducted near the border to prevent harm to Indian civilians.
The security forces continue to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety and well-being of border communities while upholding the principles of Indo-Myanmar friendship and cooperation.
