INDIAN ARMY ORGANISED IFTAR MEET AT GUREZ VALLEY

On the evening of March 2, 2025, the 16 Assam Regiment organised a special Iftar Meet at Log Hut Cafe, Dawar, Gurez Valley, to celebrate the beginning of holy month of Ramadan with the local community.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community bonding observed by Muslims worldwide.Iftar, the evening meal that breaks the day-long fast, is a significant religious and social event during this month.

In its steadfast commitment to fostering peace, harmony, and communal unity, 16 Assam conducted this Iftar gathering to reinforce the deep-rooted bond between the local populace and the Army. The event aimed to uphold the spirit of inclusivity and respect for diverse traditions in the scenic Gurez Valley.

Impact on Civilians:

Ramadan is observed as a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and heightened devotion, with fasting from dawn to sunset being one of its central aspects.The Iftar meal marks the end of the daily fast and is often a time of family and community gatherings.

Number of Participants:

The Iftar gathering witnessed an encouraging turnout, with the Maulvi of Jama Masjid Dawar, Sarpanches from nearby villages, around 30 local civilians, and Army officials in attendance. The presence of esteemed community leaders, along with members of the local Awaam, showcased the strong bond of unity and mutual trust between the people and the Indian Army. The overwhelming response reaffirmed the spirit of togetherness and communal harmony in the valley.

Overall Social Impact:

During Ramadan, people observe two key meals:

Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (meal after sunset). The Iftar Meet at Log Hut Café, Dawar, organized by the Bn, was not just a meal but a celebration of peace, happiness, and prosperity. It highlighted the core values of unity in diversity, brotherhood, and secularism, which form the foundation of our nation.

The enthusiastic participation of locals reaffirmed their commitment to these shared values.Such initiatives go a long way in strengthening the social fabric of the region and fostering an environment of trust, goodwill, and co-operation.
