Assam Rifles on 06 March 2025 once again demonstrated swift response and aided the population by containing a massive fire in Hijang Village, Kangpokpi District, Manipur.
Troops on routine patrolling detected a fire rapidly spreading through the village at approximately 6:25 PM. Reacting with precision and speed, Assam Rifles immediately mobilised to the site, executing a well-coordinated rescue and containment effort. Their prompt action ensured the safe evacuation of 25 civilians, including women and children, while preventing the fire from engulfing nearby structures.
The quick reaction and efficient execution of firefighting measures prevented significant damage, highlighting the force’s ability to respond decisively in crisis situations.
Assam Rifles continues to stand as a pillar of strength in the Northeast, reinforcing its role as a rapid-response force capable of handling both security and emergency situations with equal efficiency.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY OF BRAVEHEART AT SEHLON, CHANDEL DISTRICT
Assam Rifles on 07 March 2025 organised a wreath laying ceremony at Sehlon, Chandel District in honour of Late Lance Naik Bhola Dutt Chhetri who made the ultimate sacrifice displaying resolute courage and dedication to duty despite facing overwhelming odds in intense Counter Insurgency Operation in Aizawl, Mizoram on 07 March 1966.
MNF insurgents carried out intense attack at all bases and Battalion Headquarter of 1 Assam Rifles continuously for several days. During the firefight, Lance Naik Bhola Dutt Chhetri demonstrated utmost bravery and valour while protecting the post from the insurgent’s attack and was injured severely. He succumbed to injuries on 07 March 1966.
The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying by senior Assam Rifles officials, who exhorted all ranks to inculcate the virtues of valour and sacrifice from the brave soldier. Over 100 Assam Rifles personnel paid tribute to the valiant soldier.
ASSAM RIFLES COMMMEMORATED NATIONAL DENTIST DAYIN CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT
On 06 March, Assam Rifles commemorated National Dentist’s Day at its Veng village camp in Churachandpur District, reinforcing the importance of oral hygiene and overall well-being. The event began with a run for fun, promoting both physical fitness and dental awareness among students. This was followed by an interactive session with dental specialists under the theme “Bright Smile, Healthy Life,” where experts discussed the risks of poor oral hygiene, demonstrated proper oral care like brushing and flossing techniques, and highlighted the effects of diet on dental health.
A dental quiz competition further engaged students, testing their knowledge on oral care, dental myths, and healthy habits. The initiative, aimed at educating and motivating young minds, underscored Assam Rifles’ commitment to community welfare while paying tribute to dental professionals and their vital role in public health.
ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATES WOMEN’S DAY ACROSS MOREH, CHANDEL, AND TENGNOUPAL
Assam Rifles marked International Women’s Day with a series of impactful events across Moreh, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from 620 people, including children.
In Moreh, Assam Rifles organized a motivational lecture on women empowerment and gender equality, a career counseling session at HTC Conference Hall, and a dedicated counseling session on domestic violence and mental health at Tamil Sangam Office Hall. These initiatives aimed to equip women with knowledge, confidence, and support mechanisms for a better future.
Chandel saw a focus on holistic well-being with a yoga session and a tree plantation drive, reinforcing the connection between physical health and environmental responsibility.
Meanwhile, in Tengnoupal, a Swachhta Abhiyan, a yoga session, and empowerment programs were conducted to promote health, hygiene, and gender equality.
As part of the Women’s Day Week celebrations, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), also conducted a Women’s Health Workshop at Aishi village, Chandel District. Over 38 women from the local community participated in discussions led by a Medical Officer and paramedics, covering crucial topics like nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. Interactive demonstrations and awareness sessions emphasized the importance of women’s health in building a stronger, healthier society.
Committed to fostering self-reliance and well-being among women, Assam Rifles continues to spearhead initiatives that drive positive change through education, healthcare, and empowerment.
ASSAM RIFLES INAUGURATES TAZEEN TAEKWANDO MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING ACADEMY
In its commitment towards youth and community empowerment, the Assam Rifles established and handed over a Tazeen Taekwondo Martial Arts Training Academy at Lilong Uku Mamang in Thoubal district under its flagship Operation Sadbhavana projects on 06 March 2025. This Taekwondo Training Academy, constructed in response to local community aspirations, aims to provide a platform to the youths for practicing Taekwondo Martial Arts and channelising their energy in the field of sports.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of approximately 200 locals, including prominent community leaders. Notable attendees included Makakmayum Islam, Adviser UMPC, Md Aslam, SDC Chandel, MV Abdus Salam, Ex Zila Parishad Member, Md Babul Kalam, SP Pangei Training Center, Ayub Ali Santatomba, General Secretary, Lilong Sports Association (LSA) and Athletic Coach. The community members expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for its continued efforts in nurturing community development.
