In a series of operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps launched intelligence-based operations in the hill and valley districts of namely Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East and Imphal West recently in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, apprehended cadres, destroyed training camps and recovered 22 weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
On the basis of specific intelligence of presence of arms and ammunition in general area Sanasabi, in Imphal East district, Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint operation and recovered four improvised mortars, grenades, ammunition and war like stores. On the same day, in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint operation and destroyed a training camp of cadres in general area Gelmoul village.
Acting on specific intelligence of intelligence inputs indicated presence of arms and ammunition in general area Saidan, in Churachandpur district, Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint operation end of last week resulting in recovery of seven weapons comprising one .303 rifle, one 9mm pistol, one modified Carbine Machine Gun, one single barrel rifle, one modified 81 mm mortar, two country made mortars (pompi), ammunition and war like stores.
Three intelligence based joint operations conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Imphal West, Imphal East and Tengnoupal district resulted in recovery of arms and ammunition. In the first operation conducted in general area Sanjebam and recovered five weapons comprising one AK rifle, one SLR, one 9mm carbine machine gun, one modified single barrel rifle, one pistol, ammunition and war like stores.
In the second operation in Imphal East district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered four weapons comprising one 7.62mm SLR, one 7.65mm pistol, two single barrel breech loading rifles (SBBL), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
In Tengnoupal district, a joint operation in general area Salvom resulted in recovery of two pistols and 10 IEDs, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
