ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES CONTRABAND HEROIN WORTH RS. 82 LAC IN TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT

 Based on credible intelligence, Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) intercepted two Swift Dzire vehicles suspected of trafficking contraband from Moreh, Tengnoupal District on  May 5, 2025. Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCP) were set up near the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) location, with the cooperation of Tengnoupal Police.

The vehicles were stopped and searched with the assistance of an Assam Rifles sniffer dog, which confirmed the presence of illegal substances. During the search at Tengnoupal Police Station, 19 soap cases containing suspected heroin, weighing 205 grams and valued at Rs. 82,00,000 (82 lakh), were recovered.

One individual was apprehended in connection with the contraband. The recovered drugs and the carrier have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further legal proceedings.
