Soldier injured in firing at Nagrota Army station in Jammu & Kashmir; search on to apprehend intruder

An Indian Army soldier was injured in a gunfire exchange with an intruder at the Nagrota Army Station in Jammu last night.

A search operation has been launched for the suspect.

“On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. Sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s),” the Army tweeted.

Soldier was injured in a brief exchange of fire with a suspected intruder outside the high-security Nagrota Military Station in Jammu on Saturday evening, just hours after a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

The incident occurred when an alert sentry noticed suspicious movement near the camp’s perimeter and challenged the suspect, leading to gunfire.

The incident occurred simultaneously with Pakistan’s drone attacks and artillery shelling in several areas along the Line of Control and International Border, including Nagrota. The attack came alongside ceasefire violation by Pakistan in several sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, and border regions of Rajasthan.

The Indian Army has retaliated against Pakistan in a measured and proportionate manner following Pakistani Army’s unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. These retaliatory actions have targeted military infrastructure, command and control centers, radar sites, and weapon storage areas. The Indian Army has also responded to Pakistani attacks on civilian areas and military infrastructure along the western border, including the use of UCAVs, drones, and other long-range weapons.
