Assam Rifles, on the occasion of National Memorial Day, organised a visit of students from Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS) to the historic Shangshak War Memorial in Shanshak Village, Kamjong District, Manipur on 26 May 2025. The initiative aimed to instill a sense of patriotism and historical awareness among the younger generation.
A total of 38 students and two teachers took part in the said event which included a guided tour of the Shangshak War Memorial, where they were briefed about the significance and relevance of the valiant sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and civilians during the Battle of Shangshak during World War II. The battle remains a symbol of extraordinary bravery against the invading Japanese forces.
The students paid their respects at the memorial and participated in an interactive session conducted by the Assam Rifles personnel, bolstering a deeper understanding of India’s military history and heritage.
The school authorities and students expressed heartfelt appreciation for the enriching experience for providing such an enlightening event.
