In the run-up to World Environment Day 2025, Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division organized a series of activities under the ongoing campaign themed Beat Plastic Pollution. The initiative, led by the Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) Department, aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste and promote sustainable practices across the division.
As part of the campaign, vendors and railway staff at various stations under Sealdah Division were sensitized about the importance of partial cutting of plastic packaging bags, especially those used for milk and other dairy products. This practice helps reduce the generation of microplastics that pose long-term environmental threats.
Additionally, the division continued its intensive cleanliness drives, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a clean and eco-friendly railway environment.
The campaign highlighted Eastern Railway’s proactive efforts to engage staff, vendors, and passengers in adopting eco-conscious behaviours, reinforcing its vision for a cleaner, greener future.
