As part of its humanitarian outreach, Assam Rifles initiated a fogging drive and conducted a medical camp for people stranded in various relief camps in Kakching District, Manipur.
In response to the probability of spread of waterborne diseases due to stagnant water caused by recent floods, Assam Rifles carried out fogging at relief camps including Keirak Sanatombi High School, Keirak Awang Kangjeibung, Waikhong, Sungu, Chapki Moblem, Serou Part-III, Y Thingkhaiphai, Old Age Home near Kha Manipur College, and Phundrei Village.
These camps house flood-affected families facing increased mosquito breeding due to stagnant water. The drive mitigated vector-borne disease risks and ensured safer living conditions.
A medical camp was also held at the Old Age Home IDP Camp in Kakching on 07 June 2025 to provide timely medical aid and raise public health awareness. Assam Rifles medical personnel conducted health check-ups, distributed medicines, and advised on hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention. The camp served 80 villagers including elderly citizens, women, and children.
This effort underscores Assam Rifles’s commitment to the welfare of local communities and its continued role as ‘Friends of the North East’.
