General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, felicitated the Indian Army mountaineering teams for their extraordinary achievements in summiting world’s highest peak — Mount Everest on 27 May 2025 and India’s highest peak Kanchenjunga on 19 May 2025.
A team of 22 Indian Army personnel scaled Mount Everest — marking not only the largest ever Indian Army contingent to summit the peak, but also the largest contingent ever to reach the summit in a single day. Notably, the team included two personnel who achieved this feat for the second time.
The formidable Kanchenjunga was summited by a joint team of five Indian Army and four Nepali Army personnel, making it the first ever Indian Army & Nepali Army joint expedition to this challenging peak. This historic achievement stands as a testimony to the enduring India-Nepal friendship and a proud milestone in military mountaineering of both countries.
