On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, grand yoga camps were organized in the border areas of North 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, and Malda districts under the aegis of the Border Security Force (BSF) South Bengal Frontier. These camps witnessed enthusiastic participation not only from BSF officers and personnel but also from a large number of local villagers, elders, youth, and children. A distinctive feature of these camps was how they established yoga as a shared platform between security and service.

The objective of these camps, held in celebration of Yoga Day, was not only to promote the practice of yoga but also to raise awareness among border communities about the ancient tradition of yoga, its scientific methodology, and its significance in daily life. Under the guidance of skilled yoga instructors from BSF, participants practiced subtle exercises, various yogasanas, and breathing techniques (pranayama). In addition, the principles of Ashtanga Yoga and its physical and mental benefits were elaborated upon. During these camps, participants were inspired to embrace yoga not merely as an exercise routine but as a holistic lifestyle. They experienced firsthand the mental peace and stress relief that yoga can offer.

This initiative helped create a positive and harmonious atmosphere in the border regions. The villagers viewed it not only as a means of improving their health but also as a humanizing experience that deepened their connection with the BSF. For the BSF personnel, the sessions not only enhanced physical flexibility but also provided significant mental stress relief.

The Public Relations Officer of the BSF South Bengal Frontier stated that yoga not only enhances the mental clarity and physical capability of their personnel but also inspires the border communities towards a healthy and balanced life. He further added that such initiatives reflect BSF’s commitment not only to security duties but also to the welfare of local citizens and fostering social engagement. These kinds of programs not only raise awareness in the field of health but also play a vital role in creating a positive and collaborative environment in border areas by strengthening communal harmony and cultural values.
