Indian Army Commemorated ‘National Doctors Day’ in Manipur

On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Red Shield Division of the Indian Army organised multiple medical outreach initiatives across Manipur, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to social welfare, especially in remote and unrest-affected regions of the state.

Medical camps were conducted at Twisomjang village and St. Francis School, Nongdam Tangkhul in Imphal East District, Wangu Sabal village in Bishnupur District, and at the Sangai University Relief Camp and Laiminai Kabui village in Churachandpur District.

At Twisomjang, a health and medical aid camp offered consultations, essential medicines and awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition and disease prevention. At St. Francis School, Nongdam Tangkhul, a lecture and health screening camp were conducted where students were educated on personal health and received basic medical check-ups. Meanwhile, at Wangu Sabal village, a team including a Medical Officer, Surgeon, Dermatologist and ANM provided over 400 villagers with consultations, treatment and medicines. Informative sessions were also held to encourage preventive healthcare practices.

At the Sangai University Relief Camp, the Army collaborated with the District Hospital, Churachandpur, to provide relief to over 400 displaced women, children and the elderly, addressing common ailments and providing medicines. Special attention was given to maternal and child healthcare amidst ongoing unrest. Simultaneously, in Laiminai Kabui village, Army medical teams extended essential healthcare services to residents of remote hill areas, helping bridge the accessibility gap for underprivileged section of the society.

These humanitarian efforts were met with widespread appreciation from villagers, school authorities, and civil administration. Indian Army’s proactive role in bringing critical medical services to the doorsteps of the needy highlights its dedication not only to national security but also to peace, development and well-being of the communities in Manipur.
