Coast Guard District Headquarters (Odisha) conducted a two days Pollution Response workshop for all stakeholders in the state of Odisha on 15-16 July 2025. The workshop was attended by representatives of various agencies i.e Paradip Port Authority, Dhamra Port, Gopalpur Port, BPCL, HPCL, IOCL, Odisha State Pollution Control Board and State Disaster Management Authorities.
Indian Coast Guard is the Nodal Agency in the country for combating oil pollution at sea. The aim of the workshop is to improve coordination and enhance readiness and synergy amongst various agencies towards combating oil pollution at sea and thus safeguarding the coastline of Odisha.
The workshop was inaugurated by Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters (Odisha). Speaking on the occasion, the District Commander welcomed and thanked all agencies for participating in the workshop. He said such workshops will improve the cohesiveness, preparedness and response mechanism amongst all stake holders towards combating marine oil pollution. Presentations and discussions on relevant topics were conducted by representatives of the participating agencies on the first day. A Table Top Exercise followed by PR demonstration for all stakeholders was conducted on the second day onboard Indian Coast Guard Ship Vijaya and Paradip Port Authority vessel Ocean Elegance.
