Exercise Maitree 2025- A major boost for Indian Army

On the modern battlefield, the ability to see more, understand quickly, and act fast decides success. To meet this need, the Indian Army is going to conduct a joint Bilateral exercise at the lap of North East.

The 14th edition of the Joint Bilateral Military Exercise MAITREE between India and Thailand will be conducted from 01–14 September 2025 at the Foreign Training Node, Umroi in Shillong.

The exercise will showcased new technologies designed to improve battlefield awareness, real-time surveillance and quick decision-making, mix of ground-based systems and aerial platforms, including UAVs and drones, to carry out realistic scenarios.

The exercise is designed to further sharpen the operational capabilities of both armies in undertaking joint company-level counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain, under the United Nations mandate — reflecting the shared commitment towards global peace and security.
