In a major blow to trans-border narcotics smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF), in a Special Joint Operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Aizawl, seized approximately 9.6 lakh methamphetamine (Yaba) tablets worth over ₹144 crore.
The operation was launched on the basis of specific information. Acting swiftly, BSF troops under M&C Frontier along with NCB Aizawl successfully intercepted the consignment in Serchhip, Mizoram.
During the operation, 03 suspected drug peddlers were apprehended along with a Bolero pickup vehicle being used to transport the contraband.
This seizure once again highlights BSF’s relentless commitment, in close coordination with sister agencies, to curb the menace of drug trafficking across the Indo-Myanmar border. The successful operation has not only averted a massive influx of narcotics into Indian society but also dealt a severe blow to organized smuggling syndicates.
Earlier, on 21 August 2025, the Border Security Force (BSF), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Aizawl, and the Excise & Narcotics Department, Mizoram, in a joint operation, had intercepted four suspected vehicles on the Aizawl–Champhai National Highway (NH-6), between Keifang and Seling villages, approximately 60 km from Aizawl.
A total of eight individuals were apprehended along with four vehicles and approximately 5,00,000 Yaba tablets were seized. In addition, some soap cases containing heroin were also recovered. The combined value of the seized narcotics was assessed at over ₹75 crore.
The synergy and coordinated efforts of BSF, NCB, and the Excise & Narcotics Department, Mizoram, in these two successful operations, underline the unwavering resolve of security and enforcement agencies to eliminate the scourge of narcotics smuggling from the Indo-Myanmar border region.
