Three Mahila constables of BSF South Bengal Frontier not only successfully completed the 12-week rigorous Driving and Maintenance (D&M) training organized under BSF Malda Sector, but by edging ahead of all male trainees in the final Test results, proved all doubts raised on women ability and capability to be baseless. Undoubtedly, the commendable performance of the three mahila constables of BSF has given new direction and energy to the efforts of the force to continuously promote/advance the active participation of women in the force.

In the recently concluded challenging training, conducted the Mahila constables not only demonstrated efficiency equal to their male colleagues, but with their excellent all round performance secured top three ( 1st to 3rd) positions in the final assessment. During the training, all the trainees were given intensive practice in operating and maintaining light and heavy vehicles and in days to come these trained hands will be managing the MT fleet of BSF. The training curriculum is quite demanding and requires a high level of physical and mental fitness. A large number of male constables were also trained along with the Mahila constables.

South Bengal Frontier of BSF has decided to include Mahila constables as trained drivers and it is expected that with their inclusion, the mobility and operational efficiency of the force will be further strengthened. The achievement of Mahila constables undoubtedly proves the fact that Nari Shakti is fully capable of facing any challenge. Traditionally, women have been considered unsuitable for certain responsibilities, but women have demolished all such beliefs with their performance and put an end to the baseless questions raised on women power and capability.

Giving new challenging responsibilities to female personnel in the Border Security Force as per their capability and their successful discharge is not only a symbol of women empowerment, but is also a proof of the progressive approach of the BSF leadership which is consciously taking all steps to provide them equal opportunities.

The Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness in this regard and said that the female personnel of BSF are not only performing the responsibility of border security very well, but are also doing those tasks with full dedication and determination which were considered male bastion till now. By proving their ability and efficiency in every field of work, they are constantly taking the pride and glory of the force to new heights.
