The Indian Army organised an outreach initiative titled “A Day with Company Commander” at Segong, Menchuka, Arunachal Pradesh aimed at fostering stronger bonds between the Armed Forces and the local community.
The event witnessed the participation of 100 enthusiastic youth from remote villages of the Menchuka region. The primary objective was to provide these young minds a first-hand glimpse of Army life, motivate them to take pride in the nation’s Armed Forces, and instil in them a spirit of patriotism and discipline.
The programme commenced with an interactive briefing by the Company Commander, who explained the daily routine of a soldier, the challenges and rewards of Army service, and the opportunities available for motivated youth to join the Armed Forces. The participants were also shown various aspects of Army functioning, equipment familiarisation, and a guided tour of military facilities.
In addition to the exposure to Army life, the event included interactive sessions on career guidance, physical fitness, and leadership, which were aimed at shaping the aspirations of the youth towards constructive avenues. The soldiers of the unit engaged with the youth in sports and team-building activities, further cementing the bond between the Army and the community.
The initiative not only served as a motivational platform for local youth to consider careers in the Armed Forces but also reinforced the Army’s commitment towards perception management and civil–military cooperation in remote border regions. Such programmes highlight the role of the Army as a catalyst for positive change, promoting national integration and strengthening trust with local populations.
The resounding enthusiasm and participation of the youth at Segong, Menchuka stand as a testament to their patriotic zeal and the enduring synergy between the Indian Army and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
