MoU Signed Between Tripura Government and AIIMS Delhi to Develop State’s Medical Institutions into Centres of Excellence

In a significant milestone for Tripura’s healthcare sector, the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The agreement aims to transform the state’s medical education and healthcare infrastructure to match international standards.

Under the MoU, AIIMS Delhi will collaborate with the Tripura Government to develop existing medical colleges and hospitals across the state into centers of excellence in medical education, research, and super-specialty healthcare services. The partnership aspires to bridge the gap between regional healthcare delivery and world-class medical practices.

Tripura Chief Minister, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, shared the news on social media, describing it as a proud and transformative moment for the state. He stated that the government is committed to elevating the standard of medical services in Tripura and ensuring access to advanced healthcare for all citizens.

As part of the initiative, the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital will undergo comprehensive modernization. The institutions will be developed into a medical hub with state-of-the-art infrastructure and patient care facilities, modeled on the excellence of AIIMS, New Delhi.

Officials from both institutions emphasized that the collaboration will not only enhance healthcare delivery but also open new avenues for medical education, training, and research in the Northeastern region.

The MoU is expected to mark a new chapter in Tripura’s healthcare journey, positioning the state as an emerging center for quality medical education and advanced healthcare services in eastern India.
