In the sacred land of West Bengal, at the abode of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, NCC Cadets of Kolkata-B Group under the aegis of West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate celebrated 150 glorious years of “Vande Mataram”, our National Song, with patriotic fervour and pride.

On the sesquicentennial celebration of India’s National Song Vande Mataram, General paid a solemn homage at to Shri Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay at his birthplace , Bankim Bhavan, Kantalpara, Naihati, West Bengal. During this historic occasion, Smt Barnali Chattopadhyay, a distinguished descendant of the great writer and patriot, was felicitated in honour of her ancestral heritage.
Addressing the gathering, the ADG urged NCC cadets to carry forward the legacy of valour, intellect and patriotism embodied by Rishi Bankim Chandra. The event reached an emotional crescendo as cadets rendered a stirring version of Vande Mataram, their voices echoing with national pride and unity, reaffirming the timeless spirit that continues to inspire generations of Indians.
Across institutions and units, cadets showcased choirs,songs and recitation that evoked the timeless spirit of India’s freedom movement, paying tribute to the song that unites the nation.Tree plantation drive was also organised by NCC WB.

It’s not just a song but a slogan that has echoed through spaces filled with patriotism, from freedom rallies to school assemblies, inspiring generations with pride and devotion. Written by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, it’s a hymn of unity and courage that remains a timeless salute to our motherland. Its melody continues to echo with pride, reminding every Indian of the bond that connects us together.
