The Pedal to Plant 2025 expedition on the theme ‘Change before the Climate Change’ which aims to promote fitness, environmental responsibility and national unity through cycling and plantation activities has successfully completed its Arunachal Pradesh and Assam leg.

Led by Ms. Nisha Kumari, Para-Cyclist, Mountaineer and Everester, and supported by the Fit India Movement, the expedition began on 31st October 2025, National Unity Day, from Pangsau Pass in Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh. It was flagged off by Laisam Simai, MLA and Brigadier Sarabjeet Singh, Commander, HQ 25 Sector, Assam Rifles. The expedition is being undertaken from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, symbolizing his vision of a united and strong India.

During the Arunachal Pradesh and Assam leg, Ms. Nisha Kumari and her team interacted with thousands of students, athletes and community members across schools, colleges and Khelo India Centres. At each location, they conducted sessions on health, fitness and environmental conservation, followed by plantation drives to encourage a greener and healthier ecosystem. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nisha Kumari said that “Pedal to Plant is a mission to inspire every citizen to work towards a fitter, healthier and greener India, and to take action now—before the climate acts against us.”

The Sports Authority of India, Regional Centre, Guwahati (SAI RC Guwahati), provided extensive logistical and administrative support to the expedition throughout its journey in the Northeast and expressed pride in supporting this initiative, which blends fitness, environmental awareness and national integration, serving as a meaningful tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy of unity and strength.
