Acting on specific intelligence, alert troops of 119 Battalion of the Border Security Force, deployed along the India–Bangladesh international border under the South Bengal Frontier, seized seven gold biscuits in the border area of Malda district. However, the smuggler managed to flee from the spot. The total weight of the seized gold is 816.41 grams, with an estimated market value of ₹1,02,40,230/-.

On 26 November 2025, 119 Battalion of the BSF received information from intelligence sources that a local person might attempt to smuggle gold through the M.S. Pur Border Outpost area. Acting on the tip-off, the troops intensified surveillance in the border zone and maintained heightened alertness in the surrounding areas. According to sources, at around 1456 hours, a suspicious individual was seen moving toward the border with a bicycle. The troops stopped him and began inspecting the bicycle. During the search, the front tire of the bicycle appeared unusually swollen and rigid, raising suspicion. As the troops initiated a detailed examination of the tire, the suspect took advantage of the situation, abandoned the bicycle and fled toward a densely populated area.

After the incident, a search operation was conducted across the area, but the smuggler could not be traced. Later, upon dismantling the bicycle tire, seven gold biscuits were recovered from inside it. The seized gold has been handed over to the concerned agency for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer of the BSF South Bengal Frontier expressed appreciation for the successful operation and stated that BSF jawans are fully capable, vigilant and dedicated to preventing illegal activities such as smuggling along the border. He urged border residents to share any information related to gold smuggling through the BSF Seema Sathi helpline number 14419 or via WhatsApp message or voice message on 9903472227. He assured that appropriate rewards would be given for credible information and the identity of the informants would be kept strictly confidential.
