Sikkim Manipal University to Celebrate 25th Convocation on December 3, 2025

 

Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is set to celebrate a landmark moment with its 25th Convocation on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, marking a major milestone in the institution’s nearly three-decade-long journey of academic and research excellence.

The ceremony will be graced by eminent nuclear physicist and mechanical engineer Dr. Anil Kakodkar, who will attend as the Chief Guest. The event will be presided over by the Governor of Sikkim and Chancellor of SMU, Om Prakash Mathur.

This year, a total of 1,075 degrees will be conferred, including 670 Bachelor’s and 405 Master’s degrees. The distribution includes 594 degrees from the Majhitar Campus, 436 from the Tadong Campus and 45 from the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). In addition, 21 scholars will be awarded PhD degrees, reflecting the university’s growing focus on advanced research.

The Convocation will also honor academic excellence with 21 medals, comprising 13 Gold and 8 Silver. Among these, the Tadong Campus has produced 6 Gold medalists, the Majhitar Campus 6 Gold and 5 Silver medalists, and CDOE 1 Gold and 3 Silver medalists.
