“VIJAY DIWAS” AND “AMAR SWAHEED SHRADDHANJALI ” A HOMAGE TO BRAVEHEARTS

Vijay Diwas” was celebrated celebrated at the Assam State War Memorial, Dighali Pukhuri, Guwahati under the aegis of Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam on 16 December 2025 to commemorate India’s spectacular victory over Pakistan in 1971 Indo-Pak war. In this 54th anniversary celebration of Vijay Diwas, India paid tribute to the brave soldiers of the country. Lt Gen Pranab Kumar Bharali, VSM (Retd) was the chief guest of the event. !971 War Veterans Maj Gen Purnananda Das(Retd), Brig Abani Kumar Pait (Retd), Col Robin Das (Retd) and Maj Biren Borgohain (Retd) spoke in the event and described their unforgettable experiences during the War. All the veterans were felicitated with a “Phoolam Gamocha”. Brig Ajit Kumar Bora, VSM Group Commander, NCC group HQ Guwahati was also precent in the occasion. Wreath on behalf Hon’ble Governor of Assm mans Hon’ble Chief minister of Assam were also laid in the war memorial.

Along with the Vijay Diwas a program “Amar Swaheed Shraddhanjali” was also organized by the Directorate. Two Veer Naris whose husbands had made supreme sacrifice while ensuring safety and security of the country were felicitated by Lt Gen Pranab Kumar Bharali, VSM (Retd) former Director General, Army Aviation. Veer Naris Smt Akan Boro and Smt Bishnu Prova Chtri laid wreath in the War Memorial for their fallen husbands Hav Ramdhan Boro (Sena Medal) and Subedar Tilak Bahadur Chetri who laid down their lives while battling with militants in J&K . They were handed over a pencil sketch of photograph of their martyr husbands with narrative of their heroism written in Assamese. They also presented a scroll describing their story of valour written in hindi and English.

The ceremony was witnessed by a large gathering comprising veterans, NCC cadets and school children.
