War veterans celebrated Vijay Diwas at Netaji Subhash Bose Auditorium in Barrackpore Cantonment

The event was organised by “Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (WB). Veterans and their families from various districts of West Bengal and Kolkata were present.

In the beginning, Chief Guest hosted national flag and saluted Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the supreme commander.

Thereafter, Chief Guest along with ABPSSP West Bengal, Col Kunal Bhattacharya lit the lamp and all the audience assembled and observed a minute of silence to pay homage to the martyers.

Various devotional and patriotic songs and dances performed by various cultural troops in the station.Veer naris & 1971 war heroes present, were felicitated by the organisers.

Lt Col Shanti Bhushan Das, War veteran of 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war and 1999, Kargil conflict, Vice President ABPSSP WB welcomed all the members in his address. Veteran Sushant Mondol in his address has brought out the complete history of 1971 war along with Veteran Sujit Kumar Das.

Lt.Col. Mita Mallik secretary women’s wing ABPSSP WB has facilitated veer naris. Shahid Capt Shekhar Ghosh and his father Lt Col S N Ghosh were garlanded for their contribution to defend the Motherland along with Veteran T D Mondal.

The whole program were dedicated to the sons of soil, Shahid Capt Shekhar Ghosh.

Message of Good wishes from Cantonment executive officer Ms Jyoti Kapoor has been conveyed to the audience coincidentally Barrackpore Cantonment celebrating 250 years of establishment.

Col Kunal Bhattacharya appreciated the overall celebration and encouraged for the same in future also for the cause of national growth, prosperity and nation building.

Dr. Shyamal Das, veteran orchestrated the whole program with great pride and honour. Padmashree Dr. Jagdish Chandra Haldar highlighted his own experience of 1971 war as he was one of the members of Mukti Bahini.

December 16 is a day of national pride and to celebrate the honour of lndian army for their selfless service and valour.

On this day in 1971, the Indian Army brought Pakistani army to its knees and gave 75 million people of Bangladesh their independence. This Day the entire World saw unprecedented surrender of more than 93000 Pakistani soldiers.
