The resplendent morning of 26th December 2025 unfurled a spectacle of vitality, valour and exemplary sportsmanship as Army Public School Barrackpore celebrated its Annual Sports Day for Classes IX to XII within the majestic precincts of the school. Steeped in zeal and enthusiasm, the occasion resonated with the spirit of unity and inclusivity, aptly echoing the theme “Inclusive India – We are the Champs.”
However the meet initiated with the inauguration of the Sports Carnival followed by the welcome song performed by the school choir group. The dauntless stride of the four Houses – Roy Chowdhury, Manekshaw, Cariappa and Raina named after stalwarts of Indian Army accompanied by the White House comprising the Student Council members and NCC Cadets added stature and uprighteousness to the day. The rhythmic beats of the drum during the March Past along with the Army Band transformed the arena into an exuberant extravaganza. As the AWES Flag and the School Flag soared high and the pigeons were set free by the luminaries, the symbols of peace scaled the blue sky with soaring aspirations. The event gained momentum with the declaration of the meet opened by the Chief Guest.
The august event was graced by the distinguished presence of Ms Dola Banerjee, the renowned International archer, Arjuna Awardee and World Champion as the Chief Guest whose inspiring persona added gravitas and glory to the occasion.
The event earned momentum with the bestowing of a token of honour upon the chief guest by Brigadier Ashish Hooda, Sena Medal, Chairman, APS Barrackpore and the station Commander Barrackpore Military Station.
The celebration commenced on a mellifluous note with the rendition of the welcome song by the school choir, followed by the hoisting of the ceremonial flag by the chief guest which symbolises pride, perseverance and purpose. The pigeons released by the chief guest further added grandeur to the occasion.
A stirring March Past marked by precision, synchrony and unflinching determination, showcased the indomitable spirit of the student contingents. The arena soon reverberated with exhilaration as students competed in an array of thrilling athletic events, including track races and the Mixed Relay Race (400 metres), reflecting teamwork, endurance and competitive excellence.
The visual splendour of the day was further elevated by a captivating Tableau portraying the essence of inclusivity and national harmony. The Prize Distribution Ceremony stood as a proud moment of recognition honouring the perseverance and exemplary performances of the young champions.
Addressing the assemblage, Dola Banerjee delivered an inspiring speech, emphasising the transformative power of sports in shaping character, leadership and a cohesive society. Her words left an indelible impression on the students, motivating them to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
Under the able guidance of Dr.Moitryee Mukherjee, Principal Army Public School, Barrackpore, she is always trying to shaping young minds with a forward-thinking approach, believing the present and past will strengthen the future to create a good society.
The Annual Sports Day 2025 of Army Public School Barrackpore emerged as a glorious celebration of athletic prowess, inclusivity and indomitable spirit—an unforgettable chapter etched in the annals of the institution’s illustrious odyssey.
The Indian Army who are always made more than a billion people of the Motherland feel safe by guarding India’s International borders with their selfless sacrifice and dedication has also been very prominent with its contribution towards sports helping the country provide some of the best athletes on the global stage.
