Maj Gen Inderjit Singh Bhinder today took over as Inspector General Assam Rifles East from Maj Gen Suresh Bhambhu YSM, SM in a formal ceremony marked by military tradition and decorum.
The General officer is the 9th Inspector General of IGAR (EAST).
He took over the command from Major General Suresh Bhambhu during a formal ceremony on January 19, 2026. The Assam Rifles, known as the “Sentinels of the North East,” is a key security force in the region, operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs and with operational command of the Indian Army.
