Assam Rifles successfully seized a large consignment of illegal betel nuts during an operation conducted along the state highway MN-06, in Noney district, Manipur.
Based on specific intelligence regarding illegal movement of betel nuts, Assam Rifles launched a swift operation recently.During the search, a total of 560 bags of betel nuts, each weighing 100 kg, were found and seized. The total quantity seized amounts to 56,000 kg (56 Metric Tonnes) with an estimated market value of approximately ₹1.7 crore.
The operation reflects Assam Rifles’ continued commitment towards curbing illicit activities and maintaining law and order in the region. The seized contraband has been handed over to DFO, Noney, for further legal action as per existing procedures.
Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its mission to ensure security, curb illegal activities and work in close co-ordination with civil authorities for peace and stability in Manipur.
ASSAM RIFLES SEIZED ILLEGAL FOREIGN CURRENCY AND APPREHENDED FIVE INDIVIDUALS IN MIZORAM
Based on specific intelligence received from own sources regarding trafficking of illegal foreign currency, Assam Rifles launched an operation recently.
A Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was established at road junction in general area Laki, Siaha District, Mizoram. At about 8 pm, the team intercepted two vehicles and a thorough search of vehicles led to recovery of foreign currency amounting to Burmese Kyat 3,46,07,000/- (Three crore forty six lakhs seven thousand only) and apprehension of five individuals. The apprehended individuals include three Myanmarese and two Indians.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Miss Daw Oo Ma Thin, age 50 years, d/o U Sein Aung,
r/o Roewa Seluchahuah, Myanmar, Miss Dawe Shwe Win, age 63 years, d/o U Shet Lue Aung, r/o Roewa Shinlatwa, Myanmar, Miss Daw Kyaut Khine, age 21 years, d/o U Nyein Wat Tun, r/o Rerataung Shinlatwa, Myanmar, Mr Lalhariatpuia, age 37 years, s/o C Beitula, r/o Rawmbawk, Siaha District, Mizoram, India and Mr Tumzasanga, age 34 years, s/o Nangkhara, r/o New Siaha District, Mizoram, India.
The recovered illegal foreign currency and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to Police Station Tuipang, Siaha District, Mizoram, for further legal proceedings.
ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES 87.6 GRAMS OF HEROIN FROM MIZORAM
Acting on specific intelligence regarding trafficking of narcotics in general area Tlangsam, Champhai district, Assam Rifles troops launched a swift and well coordinated operation yesterday.
During the operation, the alert troops intercepted a Kenbo bike and upon thorough checking, recovered 87.6 grams of Heroin No–4 valued at approximately ₹ 68.25 Lakhs. The contraband was being transported by one person identified as Mr. Tlana.The apprehended person along with recovered narcotics and vehicle were handed over to Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai for further investigations and necessary legal action.

ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES 2.057 KILOGRAM OF HEROIN FROM MIZORAM
Acting on credible intelligence regarding trafficking of narcotics in general area Diltalang, Champhai district, Assam Rifles established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP).
During the operation, the alert troops intercepted a suspicious two wheeler. On challenging, the driver and the pillon driver fled.
A thorough checking of the vehicle led to recovery of 2.057 kilograms of Heroin No-4 valued at approximately 15.42 crores and a mobile phone.
The recovered contraband and mobile phone were handed over to Police Department, Champhai for further investigation and necessary legal action.

ASSAM RIFLES RECOVER BROWN SUGAR IN SENAPATI
Assam Rifles, in co-ordination with Manipur Police, carried out a successful antinarcotics operation in the general area Maram in Senapati district, Manipur resulting in a major breakthrough against drug trafficking.
During the conduct of operation, security forces apprehended one individual and recovered 268 grams of Brown Sugar, valued at approximately ₹53.60 lakh as per international market rates.
The successful recovery highlights the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles in its fight against drug menace and its continued efforts to ensure peace, security and a drug free society in the region.
ASSAM RIFLES IN COORDINATION WITH POLICE SEIZED WEAPON AND APPREHENDED ONE INDIVIDUAL IN MIZORAM
Based on specific intelligence regarding trafficking of weapons and ammunitions in the area of Sakawrdai, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles along with representatives of Police on 21 January 2026.
A Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was established in general area Sakawrdai. At around 12:30 pm, the joint team intercepted a Mahindra Bolero and conducted a thorough search which resulted in recovery of one Lee Enfield Bolt Action Rifle and 72 Live rounds of 0.303 ball (7.7 mm) ammunition.
One individual involved in the illegal transportation was also apprehended.
The recovered arms and ammunitions alongwith the apprehended individual have been handed over to Police Station Sakawrdai for further legal proceedings.
