OPERATION SADBHAVNA BRINGS MOBILITY AND DIGNITY TO CITIZENS OF MANIPUR

In a commendable step towards fostering inclusive development and reinforcing civil–military relations, a Wheelchair and Walking Sticks Distribution Programme was organised at Thoubal District, Manipur on 21 February 2026 under Operation Sadbhavna. The initiative sought to empower differently abled and elderly citizens by enhancing their mobility, dignity and self-reliance.  
 
Aid items worth ₹2 lakhs were distributed to 21 beneficiaries, enabling them to overcome physical limitations and lead lives of greater independence. The programme was attended by relatives of beneficiaries, civilians, staff from the District Administration and members of Civil Society Organisations, reflecting the collective spirit of support and solidarity within the community.  
 
The event also witnessed the participation of officials and troops of Assam Rifles, whose presence underscored the force’s commitment to strengthening its bond with the people of Manipur. Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance, noting its potential to significantly improve their quality of life.  
 
This initiative stands as a meaningful stride towards ensuring that no member of society is left behind. It reflects Assam Rifles’ dedication to fostering skill development and empowering remote communities, while embodying their motto, “Friends of the North East, Sentinels of the North East.” The force continues to safeguard Manipur while contributing to its growth and well-being, reaffirming its role as a pillar of support for the region.
 
ASSAM RIFLES PUBLIC SCHOOLS CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY IN UKHRUL DISTRICT
 
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Assam Rifles Public Schools at Somsai and Shangshak in Ukhrul District organised a series of literary and cultural competitions on 21 February 2026 to promote linguistic diversity and preserve indigenous dialects.  
 
At ARPS Somsai, a Song Competition was held with 30 students participating enthusiastically. Each performance was rendered in the students’ respective mother tongues, reflecting the rich linguistic heritage of the region. The event fostered pride in cultural identity and encouraged young learners to express themselves through music, highlighting the importance of safeguarding indigenous languages for future generations.  
 
Meanwhile, ARPS Shangshak hosted Poem Writing and Debate Competitions, which drew active participation from 45 students. Supported by the faculty and staff, the competitions showcased creativity and eloquence in native dialects and regional languages including Tangkhul and Manipuri. The debates and poems reinforced the significance of the mother tongue as a cornerstone of cultural identity and continuity, while also encouraging critical thinking and self-expression among the students.  
 
Both programmes were attended by school staff and students, who appreciated the talent and confidence displayed by the participants. Winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their creativity and commitment to preserving linguistic heritage. These initiatives underscored the importance of nurturing cultural pride and unity in Manipur, while strengthening the role of education in sustaining traditions and values.
