NCC training camp conducted at Kalyani

The NCC Cadets of 48 Bengal Battalion NCC, Barrackpore participated in an intensive 10-day training camp at NCC Academy, Kalyani, from 03 to 12 March 2026, under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters, Kalyani and NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim.

The camp focused on essential military training, including weapon firing, camouflage and concealment, map reading, and obstacle training. A key highlight was the introduction of drone training, reflecting its growing relevance in sectors such as surveillance, agriculture, and operational monitoring, and enhancing employment prospects for cadets.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Siddharth of Vigilantia Praesidium, who established the Drone Node, emphasized that drone pilots must possess not only operational skills but also a sound understanding of systems and troubleshooting.

A special conclave for Associate NCC Officers was held. It was presided over by Group Commander Brigadier Shantanu Dash, Sena Medal, who outlined his vision for the training curriculum for 2026–27. Subsequently, the outstanding & competent Cadets were promoted as Cadet Appointments and felicitated with trophies, medals and certificates. As part of 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, NCC Cadets were conducted to Naihati at the residence of the “Sahitya Samrat” Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay for inspiration & motivation.

The camp was attended by over 400 cadets, was efficiently coordinated by Professors, Teachers, and Army Staff of 48 Bengal Battalion NCC, Barrackpore.
