CULTURAL EVENING ORGANISED AT HQ DGAR ON THE EVE OF ASSAM RIFLES RAISING DAY

On the eve of the 191st Raising Day celebrations of the Assam Rifles, a vibrant and culturally rich evening was organised at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (HQ DGAR), Shillong. The event added a colourful and emotional dimension to the commemorative celebrations and highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the North East.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Governor of Meghalaya, C. H. Vijayashankar. The dignitaries, Officers, JCOs, other ranks were present at the venue witnessed a captivating series of cultural performances that beautifully reflected the traditions, diversity and unity of the region.

A special highlight of the evening was the performance by students from the North East who showcased the timeless beauty of the traditional culture of Mizoram and Manipur through graceful folk dances and traditional attire. Their performance was widely appreciated and drew loud applause from the audience.

The cultural programme continued with soulful ukulele band performances by the Lilikhrei Folk Group from Nagaland, followed by a mesmerising musical presentation by the Assam Rifles Jazz Band, which added a lively and energetic touch to the event.

Adding further excitement to the evening, the ARTC sports team presented an impressive Mixed Martial Arts display, demonstrating discipline, strength and professional excellence. The event also witnessed a delightful performance by the students of Assam Rifles Public School, who enthralled the audience with their vibrant and well-coordinated cultural presentation.

The presence of the Governor of Meghalaya added great significance to the occasion, making the event a memorable highlight of the Raising Day celebrations. The cultural evening successfully celebrated the spirit of togetherness and the rich traditions that the Assam Rifles continues to uphold while serving the nation with dedication and pride.
