Flagging Off of the Brahmapur-Surat (Udhna) Amrit Bharat Express as a Daily Service

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the Brahmapur-Surat (Udhna) Amrit Bharat Express as a daily service, fulfilling a long-standing commitment to strengthen rail connectivity between Odisha and Gujarat.

The Minister stated that the daily operation of the Amrit Bharat Express fulfils the assurance given to the people of Brahmapur, providing regular and affordable connectivity to Surat. He emphasised that the service will benefit passengers, particularly workers, students and families travelling between the two States.

Vaishnaw also announced that Brahmapur Railway Station will be redeveloped into a world-class railway station with an investment of around ₹300 crore, significantly enhancing passenger amenities and modernising the station infrastructure.

Significance: The launch of the daily Amrit Bharat Express and the redevelopment of Brahmapur Railway Station reaffirm the Government’s commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expanding affordable rail connectivity, fulfilling public commitments and developing modern, passenger-centric railway infrastructure across Odisha.
