Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the concluding day of the four day Behdeiñkhlam Festival in Jowai on Thursday, extending his warm wishes to the Pnar community and describing the indigenous celebration a unique and joyous festival.
The Chief Minister conveyed a message of goodwill from the state of Assam to the people of Meghalaya, particularly the residents of Jaiñtia Hills. He wished the pnar community success in the celebration of the festival and extended his best wishes on the occasion.

Sanbor Shullai, MLA Shri. Kyrmen Shylla, CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Dr. Tuliram Ronghang.
Behdeiñkhlam festival is one of the most significant religious festival of indegenous faith of Pnar community “Ki Khon Ka Niamtre.” Celebrated annually after the sowing season, the festival seeks divine blessings for a bounty harvest, good health, peace and prosperity, while reflecting the traditional belief in driving away disease, evil and misfortune.
The concluding day of the festival witness the display of 13 beautifully crafted rots each carrying a unique social and cultural message, taken in a ceremonial procession and immersed at the sacred Aitnar pool.
