Children from economically disadvantaged families who are undergoing cancer treatment can now apply for financial treatment support through ‘Hyundai Hope for Cancer’ programme of Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras)
The programme has opened its online nomination pathway, calling upon treating physicians, hospitals, parents, caregivers, NGOs and social organisations to help connect eligible children with the Cancer Care Fund. The initiative aims to reduce financial barriers that often prevent children from accessing timely and appropriate cancer treatment.

Speaking about this program, Prof. S. Mahalingam, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras, who is spearheading the initiative, said, “We want to reach families across India who may not be aware that such support is available. Members of the public are also encouraged to refer families of children who require financial assistance for cancer treatment to the programme team.”
Eligible paediatric cancer patients may receive treatment support, subject to meeting the programme’s eligibility criteria, documentation requirements and review process. Treating physicians can nominate patients by submitting the completed Patient Nomination Form along with the required medical records through the online portal.
Hyundai Hope for Cancer is focused on strengthening paediatric cancer care through cancer awareness and screening, HPV vaccination, cancer genomics research, and treatment support for children from low-income families.
Through these efforts, the programme seeks to improve access to cancer care and ensure that financial constraints do not prevent children from receiving timely and appropriate treatment.
