RootstockEntertainment announced that its upcoming film Oiii Police, starring Ravi Sarma and directed by Suvrat Kakoti, will be released on January 22, 2027. The film’s release was postponed following the devastating floods in Assam, which claimed many lives and displaced numerous villages across the state.
The official trailer launch event was held in July and witnessed the presence of the film’s cast and crew, members of the media, and the film fraternity. The trailer received an enthusiastic response from those in attendance, but the makers postponed its release on social media platforms and announced that the film would be released on a separate date, keeping the flood situation in mind.
During the official launch, the trailer offered a glimpse into a film that combines action, humour, emotion, and family entertainment, while hinting at a story that goes beyond the conventions of a typical police drama. Oiii Police!!! stars superstar Ravi Sarma and Amrita Gogoi in the lead and marks the much-awaited reunion of Ravi Sarma and director Suvrat (Suv) Kakoti after the acclaimed Shri Raghupati.
Speaking about the film, director Suvrat (Suv) Kakoti said, “We had thought of releasing the film in August, but our entire team was not mentally and emotionally ready to think of running a film when our own people were in a terrible condition. We visited a couple of villages and joined hands to help as many people as we could. The situation is much better now, and we can think of announcing our release date after consultation with all our well-wishers and industry experts.”
“From the very beginning, our intention was to make a complete entertainer — one that people would want to watch with their families on the big screen. We have worked extensively on the screenplay, performances, music, and visual scale because audiences today expect much more from regional cinema. The trailer is only a glimpse; the film has many more surprises in store,” added Suvrat.
With the successful Ravi Sarma–Suvrat Kakoti–Pranay Dutta collaboration returning after Shri Raghupati, Oiii Police!!! now heads towards its theatrical release on January 22, carrying the promise of a wholesome theatrical entertainer for Assamese audiences. The official trailer will be released on social media before the end of this year.
