India’s shooting contingent finally struck gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, as Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet produced a superb performance to win the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event on Friday.
The Indian duo dominated the final at the Aichi General Shooting Range, finishing with 484.6 points and setting a new Asian Games record in the process. South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo took silver with 478.0 points, while Iran secured bronze with 415.8 points.
Suruchi and Kamaljeet remained in control throughout the competition. After topping the qualification round, the Indian pair carried their momentum into the final and established an early lead. They maintained their composure as the contest entered its decisive stages, eventually finishing 6.6 points ahead of South Korea.
The victory is particularly significant for India’s shooting campaign. It is India’s first shooting gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games and the country’s second gold medal overall at the Games, following the women’s cricket team’s title triumph.
The success also came after India had endured a challenging campaign in the 10m air-pistol events. A last-minute change in the mixed-team pairing saw Kamaljeet partner Suruchi, and the new combination delivered when it mattered most.
For Indian shooting, the Nagoya gold is more than another medal—it adds another significant chapter to the country’s growing presence on the Asian sporting stage.
Suruchi and Kamaljeet have now turned precision, composure and teamwork into a golden moment for India.
