BSF rescued seized 18 Myanmar origin cattle and apprehended one cattle smuggler

The BSF, in its drive against cattle smuggling, based on specific information regarding the illegal movement of cattle towards border areas in Cachar District of Assam rescued/ seized 18 Myanmar origin cattle.

A joint team of BSF and Katigorah Police rescued seized 18 cattle of Myanmar origin and apprehended one cattle smuggler from general area of Katigorah, District Cachar while being transported towards border areas for smuggling purpose to Bangladesh in a Tata truck with Registration No. NL 02Q 8128.

The apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Abdul Kayum Mazarbhuiya S/O Fakar Uddin, Village – Dudpur Part-III, District Cachar, (Assam).

The seized rescued cattle and the vehicles used for illegal transportation along with the apprehended cattle smuggler have been handed over to Police Station Katigorah for further legal action.

The BSF troops of Mizoram and Cachar Frontier have seized 120 cattle heads since January 2024, while being attempted for smuggling purpose to Bangladesh, in its drive against cattle smuggling in Cachar and Karimganj border areas.
